The timber thinning operations in Sanquhar Woods are now well underway. Walkers and other users of the woods are asked to obey the signs and keep well clear of the machinery that is being used. The photo below of the harvester in action was only taken after safety clearance from the operator and used a zoom lens. Members of the public should not go this close to the machinery.
Unfortunately, due to the constant rain of the past few weeks, the ground in the woodlands is very soft and the forestry machinery is leaving large indentations where work is being carried out. The Trustees identified this as a problem before the work started and have made plans to carry out restoration work to the pathways after all the work is completed.
