A group of 10 FCWT members recently spent a very enjoyable afternoon learning how to identify trees in the winter. Local naturalist and nature awareness instructor Dan Puplett showed the participants the unique characteristics of the variety of trees in Sanquhar Woodlands highlighting easily remembered signs. These ranged from the black buds of Ash trees to the chicken feet structure of Aspen branches. Everyone agreed that they had gained a great deal of knowledge under Dan’s expert tutelage.
